Artist Statement 

Instead of a gaudy, worldly bejeweled crown, the virtuous Jewish queen wears a crown of lotus blossoms. The lotus blossom is an ancient symbol for spiritual enlightenment. And around her neck is are precious turquoise stones, which were thought to have healing properties.
