Artist Statement

"An artist cannot do anything slovenly." --Jane Austen

This is my homage/portrait of Jane! She is hanging on my bookshelves right now, which seems like quite a appropriate place for her. The decoupage in the background resonates her period; the empire epoch, Napoleon, Beethoven, French Revolution--sigh. I like how her words peak through the inside of her bonnet, representing her fertile mind.
