Artist statement

I often wonder about the childhood of Jesus. His upbringing and education must have been unique. I imagine he worked and played alongside his parents and extended family.

The background for this paining was taken in Jerusalem outside the Church of Many Nations in the traditional site of the Garden of Gethsemane.

Compositionally, I like how the sun lit foreground resonates against the metalic, mosaic-like stencil along the top of the paining, which reminds me of the Byzantine mosaics I saw in the sanctuaries all over the Holy Land.
